This amazing 1950's style, floral dress is from Orion London. I happened to chance upon it in Topshop, Westfields (one of Orion's stockists) and instinctively wanted to purchase it for my Graduation! It's a little on the pricey side, so I didn't, but if I had - this is the outfit I envisaged to accompany it! I don't think Orion's photos truly do the dress justice, as the ditsy print and double breasted button detailing make for a great modern dress with a vintage feel. It's fairly conservative making it the perfect day to night transition dress, just altered with accessories (for instance, I think it would look great with a vintage, beaten leather belt and some slouchy brown boots for day wear!).
Here I've teamed it with Miss Selfridge Nude Seam Platforms (£40), Models Own nail varnish in either Peach Sherbert or True Blue - depending on your mood, though I would probably lean towards the Peach Sherbert ( Topshop did have the perfect cornflower blue shade, but it no longer seems to be on their website!) and I actually loved the dress so much, I tailor made a necklace to go with the outfit.
Annabelle is a small antique silver locket with floral engraving, hung with a small heart charm, a large dark indigo Swarovski crystal and two small peach Swarovski crystals. Originally I had designed it with a lighter blue crystal similar to the colour in the dress, however, the darker blue really brought out the peach shades and I think it will make more of an impact with the dress, not getting so lost in the pattern.
I'll post a link to Annabelle when it reaches the website.
I hope you like.

And in the morning I'll be with you.
Cabbage Rose Reversible Quilt - Urban Outfitters
Floral Duvet - Urban Outfitters
Alvine Kvist Quilt Covers - Ikea
Currently, I only have the one duvet cover I like.
Maybe this is the case with most people, but it makes it some what of a depressing affair when I have to change my bed covers. I've actually coveted the Alvine Kvist quilt covers from Ikea for about a year now, but I just haven't been able to justify spending the money (being a penniless student doesn't allow for such things). It combines a pretty floral design in a subtle grey shade that just creates such a lovely crisp, clean and comfy feeling that I have to go and stroke it every time I go to Ikea.
I do very much have my heart set on finding/ owning a floral duvet cover (I see so many pretty ones pop up in my tumblr feed - I wish I knew where they came from) and to make matters worse, Urban Outfitters have release a textiles range! The two above are my absolute favourites, though I do wish the reversible quilt was a duvet cover as it would reduce the price by about £30! So now I have a couple more items to add to my desiring a new duvet list.
I think I'm just going to have to hope that I will come into some disposable income and Urban Outfitters will have a massive sale and the two will phenomenally collide, resulting in my owning one of these beauties!

Changing Faces - New Look Website
Hello everyone!
I'm sorry I've not blogged for a while - everything has been a bit hectic! I put the website under maintenance for a few days to give it a much needed face lift! I realied that I hadn't actually looked at the design of the website for quite some time and that it hadn't changed much in the last year, so for our first birthday, it really needed a new look.
These are a few screen shots, I wanted something that looked a lot cleaner, accessible and professional, which I hope hope I've achieved. I'm really pleased with it (for now!) html code is not my forte, so to actually be able to change anything was an achievement in its self!
I hope you like it, I'll be back to blogging regularly from now on. x

Past the Pines
I've recently developed a strong attraction to wooden jewellery - and these are a few of my favoured pieces from the rather wonderful Lost at Sea and Stolen Thunder. I was lucky enough to receive a Mini Stegosaurus Silhouette Pin from Lost at Sea as a birthday present back in January and it's adorned my denim shirt ever since - I love it! Lost at Sea also produce larger, more elaborate brooches, rings and necklaces.
I discovered Stolen Thunder via tumblr, the girl with balloons brooch was featured in a fashion shoot and immediate I had to hunt down the website as the quirky wooden silhouettes instantly grabbed my attention. Stolen Thunder create a range of brooches, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and charms, above demonstrates a small selection. I'm particularly attracted to the girl with the umbrella and the girl with the kite brooch ... I may have to ask one of the parentals for one for Christmas! (...there's nothing wrong with forward planning... though I'm sure by the time Christmas comes around I'll need something 'useful' instead...) x
